Game Recap

Region Champs!! Valentine’s Day was filling with more than candy, roses, and love in the Don Barfield gym Tuesday night. History was once again made in front of a gym filled with present and past fans as the Providence girls’ basketball team defeated PK Yonge to send them to the Final Four in Lakeland. It was the second meeting of these two teams and the score was almost identical to the first bout when Providence won 63-57 in Gainesville 1/13/17. Maria Kuhlman led all scorers with 24 despite being double teamed most of the game. Morgan Young hit 4 3-pointers in the first half to help boost the Stallions. Kaylee Davis picked up the slack in the second half scoring all of her 11 points. Lauren Alvarez grabbed 11 rebounds and the team combined to shoot 15/21 from the free throw line. The Lady Stallions will face SLAM in the semi-final round of the Final Four Wednesday, February 22nd at 10:00 AM. The Championship game is scheduled for Friday, February 24th at 8:00 PM. The Final Four is played at The Lakeland Center, Lakeland, Florida..
